Learning Support (LS)

The aim of our provision of LS support is to ensure all students have access to the curriculum, or a version of it tailored to their needs and abilities. Children have special educational needs if they have additional learning needs which calls for special educational provision to be made for them, an Education Adjustment Plan (EAP) is collaboratively created to support them. If necessary, Teaching Assistants may be allocated to work collaboratively with Homeroom and subject teachers to enable the students to succeed.

Any additional support above this for LS students, which needs dedicated or specialist support, does incur fees which are additional to the Tuition fees. For students entering the school who are assessed to be in need of some LS provision, it is provided at a cost to the parents.

How is LS need determined?

Teachers or parents may refer students for assessment by the LS staff where there may be concerns over access to the curriculum or other needs during the school day. The LS team will work with the referrer to suggest strategies, conduct observations and, following a review, implement additional support when deemed appropriate.

Students may have an existing Educational Psychologist Report, which identifies specific learning issues and provides staff with recommended strategies to best support the student. An IEP would then be developed to implement these strategies.

In some cases, a student may be required to visit an Educational Psychologist in order to receive a full evaluation of their needs, together with recommendations for the most appropriate support to help the student reach their full potential.

What if there is LS and ELS support needed?

Both of these additional provisions are in addition to standard tuition. As such, they are each charged separately.

How much does LS support cost?

Parents are charged for LS provision at a rate determined by the Board of Governors. The rates are included in this document, which is updated annually. Where a bespoke learning provision is required, fees may be prorated in line with the published fees based on 3 classes per week.

How will these additional fees be charged?

The additional fees for LS will be labelled as Additional Tuition Fee (LS) on invoices.
